Summary: Republic of Doyle, created and starring Newfoundland native Allan Hawco as Jake Doyle, the roguish and irreverent private investigator at the center of a colourful cast of characters who live and work together as an extended family as they try and run a “gumshoe” racket in contemporary St. John’s, Newfoundland. The series combines the retro crime vibe of classic detective TV shows with a fresh dramatic/comedic edge that produces a blend of intriguing episodic mysteries and ever-churning relationship turmoil.
In the series finale, Jake and Leslie are in the fight of their lives as powerful enemies close ranks; and the Doyles use all their tricks to protect their own, and receive help from an unlikely source.
Jake's murder charge comes to the fore; Leslie faces a life-altering event as her job is on the line; Des shows up at the wrong place at the wrong time. Meanwhile, Tinny is torn between family and job; and the Doyles have 48 hours to solve a case.
The Doyle's try to keep their stories straight during a police interrogation; Leslie and Jake keep secrets; Des and Tinny disagree on their relationship.
When a tense strike at the docks turns violent, the Doyles team up with Jimmy and Wolf to protect a witness but uncover something more sinister in the process.
Jake deals with a case that's literally been dropped off on his front step; Ned Bishop's stranger-than-usual behavior imperils a pivotal day for Christian Doyle; and Leslie's past actions come back to haunt her and lead to pressure from a new source.
