Antropophagus (1980), aka Anthropophagus: The Grim Reaper, directed by Joe D'Amato, Severin unrated and uncut remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original Italian theatrical stereo, English stereo dub, and English subtitles.
IMDb : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082479/
Video encoded in two-pass 9 800 kbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image.
English subtitles for Italian audio and English SDH subtitles for English dub OCRed, proofed and corrected.
Note : There's a lot you could say about this movie, from it being perhaps the most well-known of Joe D'Amato's films, being widely banned and on the UK video nasty list, sharing a lead actress (Tisa Farrow) with Zombie Flesh Eaters, to being a mix of the Italian cannibal and zombie genres with the now much more popular slasher, etc., but really, all you need to know is that every single time anyone writes an article or review of it, it inevitably mentions "the notorious fetus-eating scene". If that sounds like the kind of thing you'll like, then this is a thing you'll like.
A group of friends (and one hanger-on) go boating in the Greek islands, but when they're going to drop off a girl who's supposed to accompany/babysit a 15 year old girl on one of the islands, they find the island (nearly) deserted, their boat mysteriously drifts off, and they feel like they're being stalked by someone or something with a taste for human flesh. There's a "logical" explanation, but it's pretty silly, and the focus here is definitely on the gore and, well, fetus consumption. In style and approach, it probably reminds me the most of Burial Ground, both in the kind of dour tone and the gleeful taboo-breaking.
This remaster doesn't exactly look fantastic, but I think that's more down to the original cinematography, which is pretty grungy and underlit at the best of times, and also on 16mm; as a remaster, it's more than good enough. No commentary track or anything, which is kind of a shame, but it'll do the job.
