A l'aube du XXIe siècle, la TYRELL CORPORATION a fait entrer les robots dans l'ère des NEXUS, un être humanoïde appelé Répliquant.
Les Répliquants NEXUS 6 étaient plus forts, plus agiles et au moins aussi intelligents que les généticiens qui les avaient créés.
On les utilisait comme esclaves dans les colonie Extérieur, dans de dangereuses expéditions visant à coloniser d'autres planètes.
Après la mutinerie sanglante de soldats NEXUS 6 sur une colonie extérieure, les Répliquants sont devenus illégaux sur Terre - sous peine de mort.
Des escouades de police spéciales, les BLADE RUNNERS , avaient ordre de descendre à vue tout Répliquant au statut illégal.
On n'appelait pas cela une exécution. On appelait cela un retrait...
