Guitarist Diego Barber puts together a richly textured and thoughtful album
with Alejandro Coello/mar-perc, Eric Harland/dr and Ben Williams/b. He shows
his rich and gentle touch with solo work on a lovely nylon guitar piece “Elvira
Maria” while a bass duet with Williams produces gentle shadows on “Mulhacen.”
Coellos’ marimbas create a fragrant pulse on “Atlas” while the ripples of
rhythm for rich textures during “Dilar River.” Most creative is the opening
“Jacaranda” which interweaves soft guitar or bass before interludes of
thunderous percussion come and go light flash floods. This must be a treat in
concert-any gigs coming up?
