Note : Some light 90s trash to get us started again, this action extravaganza features a double performance by Jean-Claude Van Damme, backed up by Juliette Lewis' dad Geoffrey, Van Damme's arch nemesis Bolo Yeung, as well as a set of B-list actors you might have seen before, playing roles as varied as "Bad JCVD", "Good JCVD", "Drunk", "Bad guy", "Aggressive Lesbian", and so on. All in all, though, it's quite entertaining, with some decent fights, a bit of nudity, and Van Damme being a huge fucking dork, as usual.
Two twin boys are separated at an early age when their parents are murdered by gangsters in Hong Kong. The parents' bodyguard, Frank, takes one of them, Chad, to France, and the nanny leaves the other, Alex, at a Hong Kong orphanage. 25 years later, Chad is showing off his spectacular ass at his dojo in Los Angeles, when Frank tells him they need to go to Hong Kong on business. Once there, they meet up with Alex, who's a real bad dude. They learn they're twin brothers, and that they need to work together to recover the family fortune. Alex' girlfriend works for the bad guy who killed their parents, Griffith, and has access to information, but is sexily harassed by Griffith's pleather-wearing lesbian bodyguard. As the two brothers start causing problems for Griffith and his associate Zhang, the triads plan a counterattack that will place the twins in a tricky predicament.
This is a quite nice remaster from 88 Films, with good color and contrast, fine detail, and fair grain. 5.1 remaster also sounds good, and the commentary track is quite interesting too.
