Geetarz Comments:
This is a remastered, enhanced version from a private collector and its sound quality is far superior to that on any of the "official" releases.
A stunning recording, and an essential "Top 10" keystone of any EC collection.
Presented here with a secure rip directly from 3BR Originals, directly from Igor and The Professor:
Original 3BR Mitsui Gold CD-R > LiteOn iHAP322 > EAC v. 0.99 Prebeta 4 (Secure Mode, Offset Correct @ +6, 0) > FLAC (Level 8) > You !
A quick word about 3BR ... 3BR is a "For Fans, By Fans" operation, and as such, never sells recordings. So, there is no such thing as a "3BR Silver", as they have never released pressed or replicated CDs. If you see someone who claims to have "3BR Silvers", you should keep this in mind. There are many people out there who claim that everything they upload is "from silvers", but if you don't see a scan of the "silver" with the upload, you should keep that in mind. Obviously, even a scan can be obtained from the internet in some cases, so even that is not an indication of quality.
When it comes to EAC ... audio CDs do not contain the same sort of error correction found on CD-ROM discs, which is why a "700MB" CD-R can actually hold 737MB (80 minutes) of audio. For this reason, the use of a secure ripper is essential in order to obtain accurate copies of the source disc. There are several utilities which serve this purpose, of which "Exact Audio Copy" (exactaudiocopy.de) is the most well known. The name might be a little misleading, because EAC has the ability to rip in a conventional "fast" mode (called "burst"). This mode supplies absolutely NO error correction of any kind, and copying a disc this way serves no useful purpose. The other method is "secure", in which EAC uses various methods to ensure an accurate copy of the source with no generational loss. When combined with a properly calibrated offset, this ensures quality extractions.
Using EAC in burst mode is sort of like buying a Ferrari and then installing a trailer hitch ... useless.
So, when checking out uploads, always see if the uploader has used a secure ripper like EAC, properly calibrated an offset, used a secure ripping method, and included the logs so you can see the results for yourself before wasting time on a download. If EAC logs are included in a torrent, download and inspect them before wasting bandwidth ... "burst" mode is an indication of poor ripping practices, allowing you to make judgments before you download.
In the end, music trading is built on mututal reputation and trust, and providing scans and EAC logs is one more way of finding out what constitutes quality in the trading pool.
Ask questions, get answers, and let's all expect more, and help take things to a new level in a new year and a new decade.
