From Beyond (1986), directed by Stuart Gordon, Uncut Vinegar Syndrome 4k remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original theatrical 4.0, original theatrical Ultra Stereo, two commentary tracks, and subtitles in English and German.

Note : Stuart Gordon is no doubt the most prominent and prolific adapter of Lovecraft's work to the screen, although the results have been of varying quality. I feel like he gets it mostly right here, though, with this 80s "Lovecraft, but make all the characters incredibly horny" adaptation of the very brief short story of the same title, written by Brian Yuzna. It's packed with horror nobility, starring Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, and legend Ken Foree, as well as notable character actor Ted Sorel, and it has cool (and very wet) practical effects, surprisingly nice cinematography and visuals, and a reasonable amount of gore towards the end.
Crawford Tillinghast is the assistant of the brilliant but strange Dr. Pretorius, who's created the Resonator, a device that makes other parallel dimensions and their inhabitants visible to humans by stimulation of the pineal gland, but also makes humans visible to the creatures. Pretorius, who's also a huge pervert, meets a sticky end at the hand of the creatures, and Tillinghast barely escapes, but is imprisoned in a mental hospital, suspected of murdering Pretorius, whose head is never found. Dr. McMichaels examines him, finds that his pineal gland is enlarged, and has him released into her care, accompanied by Detective Brownlee, who's part of the police investigation into Pretorius' death. Tillinghast is pressured into recreating Pretorius' experiment, and apart from the Resonator making everyone within range really, really horny, it also seems to call the attention of a thing from beyond who's the fusion of Pretorius' head with the body of the creature that killed him. The creature is also horny. Everyone is interdimensionally horny, and interdimensional sex goes against the natural order of things, so obviously it ends badly for most of the people involved.
This new 4k remaster looks great, super-poppy color in the Resonator sequences, but pleasing, natural filmic skintones in the rest, all over homogenous, very fine grain, perfect contrast, about as great as an 80s film can look. The original 4.0 and the Ultra Stereo both sound good, and the two commentary tracks are also worth your while, especially the one with Gordon and the cast.
