Description Energy in all its forms is the lifeblood of the modern economies. No energy, no economic development, no conveniences, and no comfort at home. It is that simple! The big problem is that some countries have a lot of energy resources, while others have less, or none. Countries with excess energy resources (or products) will export these to countries that need them. This is one of the important functions of the global energy markets, where energy sources, products and services are sold, bought, and traded among countries and companies.
In this text, the subject of energy is narrowed down to its role in the function of the global energy markets. Here, all practical types and forms of energy, from the production of energy sources—coal, natural gas, crude oil, hydro, solar and wind power—to their delivery and use, are discussed from technical, logistics, marketing, political, legal, and financial points of view.
The emphasis here is on the physical energy markets, as the most important part of the equation. The financial energy markets are peripheral to the global physical energy market, and are thus reviewed only briefly in this text.
The goal of this text is to analyze all sides of the energy markets in their physical, technological, economic, political, regulatory, environmental, financial, and legal aspects. |
