The film show the last six weeks of Bobby Sands, the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) member who promoted in the 1981 an hunger strike and participated in the "no wash protest" and "blanket protest",in which Republican prisoners tried to win political status. It dramatises events in the Maze prison produced the Sands's death, after 66 days of hunger.
