It is clear that Mac has taken a liking to a more orchestral structure of songwriting when recording both Holy Ghosts and Pro Patria Mori. This full sound is an interesting contrast to the stripped-down drum machine driven tracks of Echo & The Bunnymen we all love so much. The implementations of these orchestral sounds do not in any way detract from the original tracks or Mac?s songwriting abilities however they do create a very different atmosphere what might be expected from the front man from Echo & The Bunnymen.

Both discs exhibit the undeniable vocal talent of Ian McCulloch and display the evolution of his songwriting capabilities through past hits and new solo tracks. Despite the more light orchestral tone of the songs original, fans of Echo & The Bunnymen and their acolytes might be the market this record can carve out.
