A melding of moods take place with Jamie Saft using a trio of keyboards with
drummer Bobby Previte and legendary electric bassist Steve Swallow. The focus
is on sounds and tones, as Saft takes on Bill Evans’ “Re: A Person I Knew” with
an electric harpsichord as Swallow teams up with Previte for a hip little
shuffle. On the Whitehall and Hammond organs, Saft is Deep Purple bluesy on
“Water From Breath” and “Ode to A Green Frisbee” while evoking moods at the
ballpark on “Moonlight In Vermont” or church during “Alfie.” Swallow is a
master here of weaving in and out of the chords like a punt returner, high
stepping on “Stable Manifold” and holding the loose jam together during “The
Cloak.” Palpable textures abound here.
