This is a great Irish Italian mix movie about gangster types with various
kinds of appeal perhaps. There's even a Jewish character in the movie
at the center of the fight between the various factions. Some of the The Italian cast members could have been better picked I think to reflect the wide range of other great Italian actor choices for these roles I should think - to put forward a better image generally in the roles
chosen for them as scripted.
The high point of the movie is when the Jewish character "Bernie" is confronted in an execution situation and he appeals for mercy saying
"look into your heart" to the main character in the movie holding gun
pointed at him - and whose response even predictably perhaps is:
"what heart?" - anyway i wont tell you what happens next.
Also included for your pleasure are mp3s of serveral renditions of perhaps one of the greatest of Irish songs that is featured in the movie:
(Danny Boy)
Miller’s Crossing is the Coen brothers' first successful attempt at reaching a wider audience. They illustrate an atypical Mafia story that sways away from the typical films from the genre like The Godfather or Goodfellas. Taking place during Prohibition, this film is an incredible piece of work accompanied by superb acting performances.
