Note : It's been a while since I've uploaded something truly outrageous, so if you're one of the sickos who've been waiting for that, here's a treat for you, one of the most widely banned films of all time, Jörg Buttgereit's 8mm meditation on death, sex, and low-paying blue-collar jobs, it's Nekromantik! It might at first glance look like a cheap attempt to shock, and while it certainly does that, with its copious gore and infamous scenes of necrophiliac threesomes and suicidal masturbation, it's actually a fairly serious movie. Buttgereit clearly has an underlying philosophy, and something to say about German society, desensitization to violence, and the soul-numbing drudgery of everyday life. He just happens to do it with a lot of gore and a guy who stabs himself in the stomach while blood and semen shoots out of his dick. So, you know, a philosopher for our age. I would actually recommend this for anyone who can stomach it, because it's interesting, experimental cinema.
Robert works for a company that cleans up accidents and crime scenes, and steals bodyparts and organs at work to take home and preserve in jars. He lives with his girlfriend, who's as into death and gore as he is, and while everyone at work seems to hate him, he doesn't seem unhappy, until one day he's tasked with disposing of a corpse pulled out of a pond, and he decides to take it home instead. His girlfriend fits it with a metal pipe with a condom over it so she can have sex with it, and they engage in a threesome. However, his girlfriend soon seems more interested in the corpse than in him, and when he loses his job, she berates him for being a wimp, then leaves, taking the corpse with her, leaving Robert to kill the cat and bathe in its entrails, see a slasher movie in the cinema with a blasé audience, attempt suicide with alcohol and pills, which leads to a very psychedelic and gory dream, and finally to actually commit suicide in a final act of eroticism and death.
This film was shot on 8mm film, so the quality of this remaster is probably about as good as it gets, but it's not great. The grit does work well with the theme and mood of the film, though. The commentary track with the director and co-writer is surprisingly funny and interesting.
