From Wiki:
Quote:
Public Image Ltd (PiL) are an English post-punk band formed by vocalist John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten), guitarist Keith Levene and bassist Jah Wobble, with frequent subsequent personnel changes. Lydon is the sole constant member of the band.
Lydon emerged after the break-up of the Sex Pistols with PiL's Public Image: First Issue (1978). His new band had a more experimental sound: Wobble's "droning, slow-tempo, bass-heavy noise rock, overlaid by Lydon's distinctive, vituperative rant".[1] Their early work is often regarded as some of the most challenging and innovative music of the post-punk era. Their 1979 album Metal Box was ranked number 469 on Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. The NME described PiL as "arguably the first post-rock group".
The Flowers of Romance 1981
The Flowers of Romance is the third studio album by Public Image Ltd, released in the UK in April 1981 by Virgin Records. The title of the album makes reference to The Flowers of Romance, an early punk band of which Keith Levene (as well as Sid Vicious) was a member. "The Flowers of Romance" was also the title of an early, different Sex Pistols song. The cover photograph is of the band's videographer, Jeannette Lee.

The Greatest Hits, So Far 1990
This was the album that compiled all of the band's singles from 1978's "Public Image" to 1990's "Don't Ask Me", a new track released on the album and as a single that reached #22 in the UK and #2 on the US Modern Rock chart. "This Is Not a Love Song" is not represented in its original single form, but as the remake from the album This Is What You Want... This Is What You Get.
The title suggests there would be more to come, and there was - but PiL released one more studio album (1992's That What Is Not) before taking a twenty-year hiatus. A more comprehensive PiL compilation, the 4-disc Plastic Box, was released in 1999.
