The story of Rosanna & Zélia is the story of a journey, beginning in Minas Gerais (Brazil) and leading all over Europe. Far from their homeland, the artists began to see Brazilian music from a new point of view and soon became interested in exploring its Afro-Brazilian and Indian roots. A magical trip with a global tinge includes sparsely arranged songs that vibrate with melodicism, feeling, and relaxation.
I would hate to make any comparisons with the works of Astrid/Joao Gilberto, especially the chestnut 'The Girl from Ipenema'....but the breathy vocals, the choppy guitars, the beautiful Portuguese language make this almost inescapable-but this has been given a coat of fresh paint.
