Questa versione attualizzata del personaggio di Arthur Conan Doyle arriva da una nuova miniserie tv made in Britain.Con un look un po’ dandy e un atteggiamento gelido e sarcastico, questo detective Holmes in formato tv è soprattutto un uomo del nostro tempo (siamo nella Londra di oggi) che si beve litri di caffé, combatte le sue dipendenze con cerotti alla nicotina (altro che pipa!), ma soprattutto conduce le sue indagine avvalendosi delle nuove tecnologie, in primis smartphone e Internet. Senza però rinunciare al prezioso aiuto del collega (e qui pure coinquilino) Watson. Il quale, giusto per essere ancora più attuali, è un medico di guerra zoppicante e reduce dal conflitto in Iraq.
