La serie è basata sull'omonimo film del 2009 diretto da Steven Soderbergh, che figura tra i produttori esecutivi della serie. La serie antologica The Girlfriend Experience giunge al suo terzo atto raccontando una storia ambientata a Londra, più precisamente nel settore tecnico-scientifico della capitale inglese. Iris (Julia Goldani Telles) è una giovane specializzanda in neuroscienze che inizia ad esplorare il mondo transazionale delle escort e degli appuntamenti a pagamento, e ritrovandosi ad affrontare le sensazioni i rapporti che ha creato che provocano in lei. Iris impara rapidamente che le sue sessioni con i clienti le forniscono un interessante vantaggio nel suo mondo lavorativo e viceversa. Questo la porta a chiedersi se le sue azioni siano guidate solo dal suo volere o anche da qualcos’altro, cominciando un profondo percorso di esplorazione.
