E01
Detectives from the Met's Sapphire team deal with the case of a distressed young woman who is raped by a stranger on her way home. When the young woman realises she is on the wrong bus, a man offers to help her, but when she gets off the bus he threatens to kill her with a knife and then rapes her. The detectives need to find the rapist as soon as possible and uncover some vital CCTV evidence near the crime scene. When the Sapphire team view the footage the detectives are shocked by what they uncover and bring a man in for questioning. When the suspect denies rape the team have just 24 hours to get enough evidence to prove he is lying.

The capital's four major hospital trauma centres have treated more than four hundred stabbing victims in the first seven months of 2018. The Met are under huge pressure to tackle knife crime and task the Territorial Support Group (TSG) to increase the controversial tactic of stop and search. The TSG target and patrol those Boroughs with the biggest spike in violence, but when they try to carry out searches they face strong and vocal reactions from some members of the community.

In south London a man wearing a £130K Franck Muller watch is robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight. The victim of the armed robbery is the ex-chairman of Crystal Palace Football club and radio sports pundit, Simon Jordan. DI Dan O'Sullivan from Croydon CID is tasked with finding the armed robber. It doesn't take Dan's team long to identify the suspect - a known career criminal who's already wanted for other offences. But trying to find him is another matter. Dan and his team get embroiled in a week long and costly game of cat and mouse as he evades capture. Finally, they locate an address where he might be living and as detectives and armed officers move in to get him, he goes on the move again. Frustrated the detectives decide to lie in wait in the hope they get another chance to strike.

E02
2018 saw the highest number of under-25s killed in London in over a decade. This film follows the investigations into two of these killings in the borough of Haringey, North London. The first is the murder of 22-year-old Kobi Nelson from Tottenham, who was violently stabbed 14 times near his home and died at the scene. Kobi was well known in the community through his work as a youth worker, and detectives believe he was murdered in a random attack. Forensic evidence from a car at the crime scene identifies a 20-year-old known gang member from Wood Green as a suspect.

Less than five weeks after Kobi's murder, 19-year-old Kelvin Odunuyi was shot dead at a cinema in Wood Green. Kelvin was privately educated in a school in Leeds and was a good student. His mother noticed a change in his behaviour when the family moved to Wood Green, and she believes he was groomed by gangs in the area.

The case is handed to DCI Luke Marks and his team. One theory is that Kelvin's murder is part of a feud between two gangs in the borough, a direct retaliation for the murder of Kobi Nelson. The Met are under pressure to halt the escalating murder rate, and with tensions high in the borough, the detectives are alive to the fact that further retaliation killings are a real possibility, and just weeks later violence in Tottenham hits the national news as 17-year-old Tanesha Melbourne-Blake is gunned down on the street.

As Kobi's mother makes preparations to bury her son, tensions in the borough remain high. The police are concerned that the funeral will be used by gang members to settle scores. Extra plain-clothed and unifo

E03
A young woman is violently mugged for her phone and handbag by two moped thieves, and is rushed to hospital in a critical condition. The investigation is handed to DI Steve Brownlee who runs a specialist team of detectives tracking down the capital's most violent and prolific moped criminals. On CCTV they identify two men using the victim's stolen bank card 15 minutes after the attack, but tracking the men down proves more difficult for the detectives.

Meanwhile, PCs Andy Reeder and Allan Baker-Perkins are part of a response team that patrol London's hotspots for moped crime. Determined to reduce the number of crime,s the unit use a controversial technique called tactical contact. They pursue a man on a moped who they believe has stolen some handbags, and when the rider refuses to stop, the team chase him, knock him off his bike and wrestle him to the ground.

Knife crime is a major concern for the Met's senior command team overseeing the 2018 Notting Hill carnival. For the first time in the carnival's 50-year history, the Met authorise a section 60 for the entire duration of the event, giving them the powers to stop and search anyone for weapons or drugs without reasonable grounds. In the previous year there were four serious stabbings at the carnival, and two years before there were 12 stabbings. With huge crowds of half a million wanting to enjoy the carnival, it's a tricky balancing act for gold commander Dave Musker, whose job is to keep the huge carnival crowds safe.

E04
Detectives from the Murder Investigation Team deal with an attack in Greenwich, where 30-year-old Jozef Boci is violently beaten after a night out. Jozef, whose partner is pregnant with her first child, dies six days later from his injuries. Jozef’s parents, who brought him to Britain 20 years ago as a refugee from Kosovo, are devastated by the loss of their son. DS Brendan Ward and his team are determined to track down those responsible.

After forensic investigation of 100 hours of CCTV, six men are identified on camera as suspects. An expert lip reader is consulted to review some key footage of the suspects, in order to understand more about the motive for the attack. The lip reader gives a chilling account of something mouthed by one of the prime suspects. The detectives are keen to get justice for what they believe is an innocent man who went out for a drink on a Saturday night and didn’t come home.

In central London response officers PC Alex Orme and PC Lydia Vanbergen are on patrol in Westminster, where a woman is arrested and taken to custody. At the nearest police station in Charing Cross, all 62 cells are full, so the officers head several miles away to Islington, where they have to wait a number of hours before they can check in their suspect. When they finally do so, concerns for her mental health require that she is kept on a 24-hour watch, and with no spare custody officers, it falls to Alex to watch over her.

In Croydon, detectives from CID are on the hunt for a serial burglar. The burglar has recently been caught on CCTV at a number of attempted break-ins, and detectives discover that the suspect is already wanted for other offences. The team prioritise trying to track him down via his getaway car and spend several days playing cat and mouse until they finally get a breakthrough.

E05
In Peckham, 39-year-old Juan Olmos Saca is found slumped in a passageway with a single stab wound to his heart. When officers arrive at the scene they follow a trail of blood up to a flat where they find another man injured in bed and five other Latin American living in the flat. All six men are arrested as suspects and interviewed, but all are soon released except the man found injured in bed. The detectives don’t think his story stands up, but with no sign of a murder weapon they need to prove he’s lying.

In north London, the Met’s Community Safety Unit investigate allegations made by a 47-year-old woman that she has been emotionally, physically and financially abused by her friend and her friend’s father. In Ealing, response officers Naomi and Mahad deal with a woman who has called seven times over the last week to complain about her husband. All too familiar with the caller the response officers go to check on her wellbeing and try to arrange for support to be put in place. And another call takes them to visit a woman who has just received an email scam trying to blackmail her for money. She refuses to pay but wants the offenders reported so they can’t harass anyone else.

E06
In south London, 38-year-old Julian Joseph is violently attacked on a bus and is rushed to hospital in a critical condition after repeated kicks to the head. The detectives' priority is to identify the man on the bus CCTV fleeing the scene of the crime. But the suspect makes a fatal error when he tries to return to the bus after the attack, leaving a handprint on the door of the bus that gives the detectives a vital clue. Meanwhile, Julian's mother remains by her son's side in hospital, but nine days after the attack her son dies from his injuries. Now all she can hope is that detectives find the man who attacked her son and bring him to justice.

The Met's Public Order Command police 250 protests across the capital every year, and this year three of those protests happen during President Trump's first visit to the UK. It's their responsibility to keep the president safe and to facilitate any peaceful protests. The first day involves the woman's march and the launch of the Trump blimp. It goes largely without incident. But on the second day of protest, pro-Trump and anti-Trump supporters come face to face. It isn't long before officers have to intervene, and the police themselves come under attack when disorder breaks out among pro-Trump supporters in Trafalgar Square.

In south London, response officers PC Ben Anawachagul and PC Tom Dicks are on patrol in Croydon city centre when they are called to assist enforcement officers trying to evict a traveller in his caravan from a supermarket car park.

E07
DCI Jim McKee and his team from the Met’s Trident unit target one of London’s most dangerous gangs, based in Newham. Their investigation uncovers that recent attacks in the borough have been carried out by teenagers groomed by gang leaders. This is the first time detectives have seen the deliberate recruitment of school children to commit serious acts of violent acts. They fear more teenagers across the borough are at risk of being pulled into the gangs. Jim’s team believe a gang member and drill artist is behind the grooming of the teenagers, and when a young boy is kidnapped and tortured, Trident get a vital lead on their main suspect.

Two men attack Desmond O’Beirne in Trafalgar Square. One of the men delivers a fatal punch and Desmond dies six months later from his injuries. The attack is captured on CCTV, but with 15 million tourists visiting Trafalgar Square every year, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. Desmond’s sister is determined to get justice for her brother and does an appeal at New Scotland Yard asking for witnesses to come forward.
