LINEAGE:
The only know lineage and sources for these recordings is as follows:
Track 7 and 11 are taken from the "Plug In Flush Out" bootleg. Track 8 is taken from the "Keep Your Motor Runnin'" bootleg. Tracks 9 and 10 are taken from silkcut1978's LP Rip of the Philadelphia Special [Pre Swinging Pig Label] bootleg.
Tracks 1 to 6 and track 12 are taken from a 2 disc bootleg of The Stones' performances at the Spectrum in 1972. Unfortunately I do not have any info on their origin or details about this release. I originally obtained it via torrent some time ago but I can no longer find any information about it's origin or lineage. I chose to use these tracks for this remaster because I found them to be of better quality than what is commonly circulated containing recordings from The Spectrum concerts. This includes much of what was included in the bootleg used as the source for tracks 7-11, "Philadelphia Special" on a Pre Swinging Pig Label which, according to the uploader of these recordings is the superior sounding version but I would have to disagree to a certain extent. Tracks 1-6 and 12, which are taken from the unknown bootleg recording used as the source, are to my ears at least, superior sounding to the "Philadelphia Special" LP versions included on the "Philadelphia Project". Unfortunately, the rest of the tracks on the unknown bootleg, wherein the "Philadelphia Project" versions were used for this remaster, were digitally corrupted with all kinds of destructive digital artifacts and thus were deemed inferior to the alternate source.
TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
Given the somewhat confusing history of recordings of indeterminate origin taken from The Rolling Stones performances at The Spectrum in 1972, I cannot say for sure whether this version will contain the best sounding versions or whether the sources I used for this remaster are the best of what's out there. What I can say is that I went through a few different incarnations of some of these recordings on multiple releases entitled "Philadelphia Special" as well as other versions including single and 2 disc varieties. I chose the best of what I could find and decided to limit this remaster to a single disc since many of the tracks on the second disc of the recordings I sampled were either of a song that is already on the first disc or were of less than stellar sound quality. One real problem in remastering these recordings was the fact that there was such a disparity in sound quality, noise levels, channel volumes and balance and level of mix elements that even individual sections of specific tracks had to be modified seperately due the the amount of audible flucuations throughout! This was somewhat of a mind numbing process but I did my best to limit the variation in frequency response throughout the recording and at times within just one track. This took some fairly drastic EQ adjustments. No noise reduction was used to eliminate hiss and noise levels but certian frequency ranges have been tamed significantly. Another problem with some of the source material is the channels had been reversed. This has been corrected and some fairly minor phase issues have also been addressed. I have read multiple times that the bootleg recordings of the 1972 Spectrum shows are so good that they could easily be released officially but based on what I've heard, I hardly believe that to be true unless the master tapes are available. It's not that these recordings are bad. They are from stereo soundboard tapes and they are of fairly good sound quality for the time period. But in some cases more than others, it's obvious that there has been a fair amount of deterioration of the source material or these recordings are a few generations away from the master tapes since there are quite a few anomalies throughout which you will notice more easily in the alternate source material used for tracks 7 to 11. Nevertheless, this is as good as it gets for me until someone shares these much talked about stellar, superb, top quality recordings from The Spectrum that everyone seems to be talking about!
Hope this is new or an upgrade for you!

NOTES:
This was brought on by the superior sound of the original 2 LP set shared by silkcut1978. His LPs brought a better source to the Philadelphia 1972 early show on July 21st than was previously available... The 2 LPs also used a lot of Ft Worth 1972 which is not only now official, but available in pretty good quality already. The first 3 sides of silkcuts LPs ran at the right speed, but side 4 was too fast...probably to make it fit. As I only used 1 song from that side (the rest were Ft. Worth) only one track needed speed correction. Other tracks were included from best available sources in order to complete this set.

The Rest:
Track 7 taken from "Plug In Flush Out" as silkcuts original LP had the Ft Worth June 24th show track.
Track 8 taken from "Keep Your Motor Runnin'" as silkcuts original LP had the Ft Worth June 24th show track.
Track 11 taken from "Plug In Flush Out" as silkcuts original LP had the Ft Worth June 24th show track.
Track 12 taken from "Keep Your Motor Runnin'" as silkcuts original LP is missing this track
Track 13 taken from "Plug In Flush Out" as silkcuts original LP had the Ft Worth June 24th show track.
Track 14 taken from "Philadelphia Special II" as silkcuts original LP had the Ft Worth June 24th show track and I thought it sounded warmer than "Plug In Flush Out"
Track 15 taken from "Philadelphia II" as silkcuts original LP had the Ft Worth June 24th show track and I thought it sounded warmer than "Plug In Flush Out"
Volume fluctuations were severe in some cases. Tracks have all been brought into the same volume range manually. NO NORMALIZING. There were a few bad edits on the LP source that I left in to keep that source as clean as possible. Most notable is the spoken intro to YCAGWYW. It seems to skip or something.
Thanks to Silkcut1978, ErikSnow, and to midnrambler whose long ago torrent of both complete Ft. Worth shows really helped in comparing these lps.
Final question: Who screws up the beginning of Jumping Jack Flash? Keith seems to be right on target. Is it Charlie? Nicky? Bill? Either way, Charlie wrestles it back under control.
