Kurt Wallander, created by Swedish crime writer Henning Mankell (1948 – 2015), is the protagonist of many mystery novels, set in and around the town of Ystad, 56 km south-east of Malmö, in the southern province of Skåne. Wallander has been played on screen by the actors Rolf Lassgård and Krister Henriksson in Swedish versions.
Kenneth Branagh (in his BAFTA award winning role) stars in this UK made English language version.
