Take it from someone who knows: buy this album and you will be hooked on Yello for life!
In the '80's I had heard "Oh Yeah" quite often, especially in Twix candy bar commercials, but I never thought the song was actually on any kind of album. Then I heard it on the radio two or three times. Then I saw "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and knew I had to find "Oh Yeah" and/or the band that made it!
There is no soundtrack album for "Ferris Bueller" that I know of, but I found out that "Oh Yeah" was done by a band called Yello from reading the credits at the end of the movie. So the next chance I got to be in a music store, I found One Second. (I must have kept the thought of owning "Oh Yeah" in my head for months!)
When I brought "One Second" home, there was no letdown. "Oh Yeah" was there, all right, but I was surprised by the diverse sound of the other tracks: the Latin flair of "La Habanera" and "Call It Love"; the French "Le Secret Farida"; the drum-happy "Goldrush"; the heavy metal-style love song "Si Senor the Hairy Grill". "The Rhythm Divine", which could be a perfect title for a James Bond movie; it's sung by no less a Bond chanteuse than Shirley Bassey. I could go on and on.
Bottom line: if you want to hear an album that doesn't fit in any kind of mold, and if you want an all-around fun filled experience in sound.....buy this one!
